Watch our banknotes come to life as Winston Churchill, Jane Austin and JMW Turner for this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show.

The colourful parade will feature gatekeepers in our traditional pink coats, a model of the Bank’s Threadneedle Street building and 1930s style gold trolleys.

The female personification of Britain, Britannia, who features in our logo, will take part in a carriage. She has appeared on every banknote issued by the Bank since its opening in 1694.

The trolleys will pull two palettes stacked with gold bars. Don’t get too excited, though. If this was real gold, each trolley would weigh about four tonnes and be worth an estimated £93 million.

Bank staff will also carry flags featuring the names of the charities we support, Haven House Children’s Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Care, Samaritans and Child Bereavement UK.
