OBH is very proud that former pupil Charles Bowman, is taking office as Lord Mayor of the City of London. We are delighted to have a float in the procession and the opportunity to show what OBH children might aspire to in the future.

As our float passes look out for the elements that create ‘An Adventure in Education’.

OBH has taken the best of its 150 years of history in rural Suffolk to become one of the UK’s leading Prep Schools. Its heritage and traditions provide strong foundations, but the school has always had one eye on the future. OBH is a place where a dynamic education blends Swallows and Amazons with the age of the iPad. OBH is a journey that not only challenges children greatly, but also puts a smile on their faces, and gives them plenty to talk about when they get home.

When you have talented staff who love teaching, lessons are exciting and challenging. Children develop not just an interest in learning, but also a passion and a love for it. This desire to learn is the reason why OBH children are both inquisitive and successful.

Whether it is preparation for a scholarship to a top Public School or helping a Pre-Prepper to master the three times table, every child is individually supported to be the best they can be. The use of the very latest technology enhances many lessons - but will never replace the inspiration of a great teacher.

OBH children enjoy a range of show-stopping weekend events. From Masquerade Balls and Medieval Banquets, to tramping through the school’s woods or camping on the island in the middle of the OBH lake. There are always opportunities to play, learn new skills and, best of all, to enjoy laughter amongst friends.

OBH is full of boarders and day children. All play a full and equal part in a busy and immensely fulfilling day. Those who stay, end each day with a big mug of hot chocolate, chatting in charming, cosy dormitories or settling down with a good book.

Exceptional pastoral care is something in which we take huge pride. Each child is supported and nurtured and grows to be confident, independent, tolerant, and prepared for the wider world.

Whether portraiture or pottery, rugby or riding, monologues or musicals, oboes or orchestras, an OBH child can try each and every one. In every aspect of extra-curricular life, excellence sits alongside participation for all.

From our Forest Schools classes in Pre-Prep to the Old Buckenham Explorers Gold Award in Year 8, OBH offers a continuous adventure in outdoor education.
