94Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity Partners

The Lord Mayor's Appeal aims to have a transformational impact on people's lives. We are bringing businesses, neighbouring communities, employees and charities together to find solutions to some of London's most pressing issues.

The Appeal focuses on four key pillars - working towards a City that is Inclusive, Healthy, Skilled and Fair.

As well as building on existing initiatives, the Appeal is working with three leading charities - Place2Be, OnSide Youth Zones and Samaritans. Each has developed a ground breaking programme that can help change lives, and between them create a Better City for All.

Onside Youth Zones

OnSide Youth Zones develop a network of state-of-the-art facilities - 'Youth Zones' - across the UK, which give young people somewhere safe and inspiring to spend their leisure time with state-of-the-art facilities from sports to arts and music to drama and much more, as well as someone to talk to with trained youth workers on hand to help them. The Lord Mayor's Appeal will help OnSide with funding for the charity's first London Youth Zones, with three set to open next year.

Place2Be

Place2Be is a children's mental health charity that provides school-based support and in-depth training programmes to improve the emotional wellbeing of pupils, families, teachers and school staff. The Lord Mayor's Appeal will enable Place2Be to deliver a transformational mental health programme in 180 schools in London, equipping school leaders with the skills and knowledge to support their pupils emotional and mental health.

Samaritans

Every year, around 600 people die by suicide across London. In partnership with Lord Mayor’s Appeal, Samaritans has launched Wellbeing in the City, a free online learning tool that gives City workers the skills to intervene when someone is struggling, actively listen and manage difficult conversations. It also helps people manage their own mental wellbeing. The aim is to help create a happier, healthier City. Businesses and individuals can sign up for free here.
