Donkey Breed Society

The Donkey Breed Society is a charity, registered in the UK. It was formed in 1967, which means that 2017 is the Golden Jubilee 50th Anniversary.
The Society aims to improve knowledge of donkeys, educate people on their care and management and to highlight the versatility of the donkey. We believe an active donkey is a happy donkey – they deserve to be much more than just a paddock ornament! Get to know a little more about each donkey in the show by checking out our special show website www.dbs-lms2017.co.uk
The DBS has a nationwide network of representatives and runs fun days and training days covering everything from basic handling to riding, driving, trekking and even dressage! We also have a variety of classes held at many agricultural shows across the summer months.
Membership is open to all who love donkeys - you certainly don't need to own one to join in - although, of course, many members do.
As part of our Golden Jubilee celebrations we have donkeys here from as far afield as Cheshire and Wiltshire and members from Holland and France! We are all taking part in the Lord Mayor's Show to promote donkeys to a wide audience. We will show you just how good a well-cared for donkey can look, and give you a taster of the many things donkeys can do.
