Worshipful Company of Farmers
2019 Procession Worshipful Company of Farmers
Farmers are taking to the streets of the City of London in this year's Lord Mayor's Show to showcase the best of British food that they produce for the nation.
It’s the 804th Lord Mayor’s Show and agriculture will have a prominent place in the parade as the Worshipful Company of Farmers supported by the NFU, alongside leading farm machinery manufacturer Massey Ferguson, Red Tractor, the UK’s largest farm and food assurance scheme, and Surrey Docks Farm, encourage the crowds to back British farming.
This year’s entry led by David Bolton, the newly installed Master of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, will feature a Massey Ferguson tractor and a British Farmers Market stall stocked full of fresh, seasonal Red Tractor produce including apples and pears, pumpkins, potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbages as well as cereals, bread, cheeses and milk. All the produce will then be donated to the City Harvest charity which distributes food to organisations across London that provide meals to vulnerable people.
The parade will also include ten students and young farmers chosen to lead the NFU’s first group of Student and Young Farmer Ambassadors –selected from a pool of more than 80 applicants and to represent every region of England and Wales.
British farming is being given even greater prominence as Lady Mayoress Designate, Hilary Russell, a farmer herself, will be leading the Lord Mayor’s Show parade, driving a Massey Ferguson MF 4708 tractor.
